How to Make an Old-Fashioned

Recipe by Jennifer and Ludovic Coatanroch, Behind the Bar

The old-fashioned is one of the first mixed drinks I learned to make (20 years ago, yikes!). It brings back many fond memories of my many years at The Elms Restaurant and Tavern. We had many customers that loved the old-fashioned cocktail.

My husband and I have found that we actually like it with the organic frozen cherries we always have in our freezer, but traditionally it's made with maraschino cherries. You can find all natural maraschino cherries in most liquor stores, or online.

Luxardo and Stonewall Kitchen are two brands commonly available.

And to give it our healthyish twist, we've eliminated the sugar that is in traditional old-fashions as well. It tastes just as great without it!

It's pretty easy to make, and it can be adjusted to how sweet or un-sweet you'd like it.

We hope you enjoy it!!
