Eat Real Food. Live Simply.

Live Your Best Life.

J and O cooking.jpg

Welcome!  Thanks for stopping by.  I'm Jen, and this is my husband, Ludo, and my son, Olivier.  We are here to share recipes and health and wellness tips and tricks that help our family, and will help you on your healthy journey!

Ludo is from France, and works in the wine industry.  Together we create delicious wine and food pairings...not to mention the fun we get to have while doing our tastings!

This is a true family business, down to our logo: an olive tree, which is the French meaning of our son's name, Olivier.

Olives are also a staple in our house.

Olivier used to eat anything I cooked...now...not so much.  That’s when I knew I had to get creative.  I like to involve him in the kitchen as much as possible, even though it sometimes makes the process that much longer!

As a busy mom, I love creating meals that are:

QUICK,HEALTHY, FAMILY FRIENDLY, DELICIOUS

  • I also love taking traditional French recipes and giving them a healthy twist.

  • Many of the recipes on LVP are PLANT FORWARD… meaning, mostly plant-based, but occasionally will feature fish or chicken.

Random facts:

  • I was born into the restaurant industry, and a passion for food is a part of my soul.  My father is a chef, and my stepfather owned and operated a restaurant throughout my entire childhood (which was my first "job" at age 12!)

  • I gave up red meat and pork when I graduated high school in 1994 (I’m not saying I did it the healthy way though, lol...back then I mostly ate Ramen noodles and mac and cheese).

  • Why did I initially give up red meat and pork?  I saw how cute the “prize winning” pig was at the Bridgewater Fair, and I vowed NEVER AGAIN to eat an animal on four legs.

  • Ludo and I met at Luc's Cafe, a French restaurant in Ridgefield, CT.

  • My maiden name is Coates, and my married name is Coatanroch...crazy, right?!  Coatanroch in French translates to "of rock and wood"... and it's pronounced: COAT-IN-ROCK

Why did I go nuts about health and wellness?!

  • Cancer at 23 years old in 2000.  A rare form of ovarian cancer rocked my world.

  • 2001, Went back to college for a degree in health, and I knew from that moment on that I wanted to educate others on living a healthy lifestyle.

  • Thankful that I am healthy and cancer-free.

  • Waitressed my way through college and my early career, learning from some of the best chefs and restaurant owners around.

How did I get here today?

  • Graduated with a B.S. in Community Health from Western Connecticut State University 2007

  • Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA

  • Certified Health Coach, ACE

  • Health coach at a private doctors office for five years

  • Certified as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager

  • 2018, I decided to create a health and wellness website, and I can't wait to share this adventure with you!

Life doesn’t always lead you where you think it’s going to lead…

I’ve learned to be thankful for the blessings I’ve been given, and I hope to share with you the things I’ve learned along the way.

Carpe Diem...

Live a life you love.

Bon Appétit!
