Eat real food. Live simply. Love your life.
Welcome! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Jennifer, a healthy cooking instructor, an ACE Certified Health Coach, and an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer.
I love creating healthy, family friendly recipes that taste delicious. As a busy mom, another goal is to create recipes that don’t take the whole evening to make. My husband is from France, so I often get inspired to make traditional French recipes with a healthy twist.
Many of my recipes are vegan, but I do eat fish and eggs, with occasional chicken. I do include a small handful of chicken recipes, because I find that for most families they are crowd pleasers.
The health educator in me is always looking to share information with people to help them on their healthy journey, and creating a blog is one way that I can achieve that goal!
I’ve been consuming a healthy diet for most of my life. I decided to give up red meat and pork when I graduated high school, and what I've learned since then is that just because you eat mostly vegetarian, it doesn't necessarily mean you're eating healthy. I think I mostly consumed boxed mac and cheese or Ramen noodles back then.
My life changed when I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at 23. My healthy journey began that day. I decided to go back to college for a degree in health, and I knew from that moment on that I wanted to educate others on living a healthy lifestyle. It will be 20 years this February for me being cancer free, and I am thankful for the healthy life I'm able to live.
I was born into the restaurant industry, and a passion for food is a part of my soul. My father is a chef, and my stepfather owned and operated a restaurant throughout my entire childhood. I started working at his restaurant when I was in high school, and I was always excited by the industry. I put myself through school by waitressing, and I still part time bartend to this day. The knowledge I’ve learned and the experiences I've gained from my tenure in the restaurant industry has been priceless.
I have a B.S. in Community Health from WCSU, where I also completed my internship at Danbury Hospital assisting the Chief of Pediatric Subspecialties with research into the development of a pediatric obesity clinic.
My passion is educating the community on healthy cooking, nutrition and weight management; specifically, the diet's impact on disease and prevention.
I worked as a health coach at a private doctors office for five years, and I am certified as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager.
I decided to start my own Healthy Cooking Instruction/Health Coach business, and I'm looking forward to this adventure, and I can't wait to share it with you!
Thank you for taking the time to visit, and I hope you find some recipes and tips worth exploring!
